Kansas City Power & Light Company v. Daniel E. Strong

Trial Court Summary: Kansas City Power & Light Company v. Daniel E. Strong, Trustee, et al., Johnson County, Kansas Case No. 12CV00366.

After appealing from the appraisers’ award of only $96,465.00 as compensation to Dan and Evelyn Strong for Kansas City Power & Light Company’s taking of easements across prime development land owned by the Strongs in southern Johnson County, DSDK attorneys successfully tried the case to a Johnson County, Kansas jury over the course of a week.

DSDK attorneys argued that Kansas City Power & Light Company drastically undervalued the taking by failing to recognize the clear development potential of the Strongs’ land. The jury returned its verdict in favor of the Strongs and awarded them over $1,900,000 for Kansas City Power & Light Company’s taking.
